(Oct. 15, 2014) — A man who was attacked and beaten by four men and then robbed on the Monon Trail spoke to FOX59 about the terrifying ordeal.</div> <div style="line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 24px;"> It happened around around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 10 on the trail near East 35th Street and the bridge over Fall Creek.  It was Doug Eslinger’s place to sit and eat dinner after work, but that tranquility turned to terror.</div> <div style="line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 24px;"> “Just saw these four guys come walking up, one of them was on a bike, and they were coming across the bridge,” Eslinger said. “Two of them stopped near the bridge and the other two went past me, so, then I was like stuck between them.”</div> <div style="line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 24px;"> After two of the guys went in to the woods behind him, Eslinger tried to leave.</div> <div style="line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 24px;"> “I heard somebody coming real quick from behind me and just hit me like right up in here,” said Eslinger, as he pointed to his head.</div> <div style="line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 24px;"> He said he then fell to the ground.</div> <div style="line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 24px;"> “Next thing I knew, they were all around me and just stomping on me.”</div> <div style="line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 24px;"> Eslinger thinks the attack lasted only a few seconds, but there was a feeling of helplessness.</div> <div style="line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 24px;"> “At the time, I was hoping it would end,” he said.</div> <div style="line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 24px;"> After it finally did, the suspects got away with his bike, backpack and money. Luckily, Eslinger was able to flag down an officer from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s Ranger Division who was on patrol. Eslinger was taken to Methodist Hospital, where he had surgery on his arm.</div> <div style="line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 24px;"> “They had to open it up and put a metal plate in and some screws to hold the bone in place and stuff,” he said.</div> <div style="line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 24px;"> Eslinger is thankful for that caring officer.</div> <div style="line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 24px;"> “Followed us to the hospital in the ambulance and then he stayed there for three or four hours,” Eslinger said.</div> <div style="line-height: 32px; margin-bottom: 24px;"> Eslinger hopes if someone knows anything about the incident, they’ll police or remain anonymous and call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).</div> </div> </div> </div>
